For professional floor cleaning operations, finding the balance between maximising efficiency and minimising environmental impact is made easier with the range of HTC Twister floor pads, available locally through Superb Flooring Systems, a company in the PMSA group.
Superb Flooring Systems is an exclusive distributor of the Swedish-manufactured range of HTC floor grinding and polishing machinery as well as the HTC Twister diamond cleaning pads.
According to HTC Twister specialist Fredrik Toftemo, the use of the floor cleaning pads eliminates the need for harmful and toxic chemical detergents. “The HTC Twister floor cleaning pads are coated with billions of microscopic diamonds and only water is required for daily cleaning applications. In most cases there is no need for wax, polish or any other periodic maintenance,” he says. “Hence the HTC Twister range reduces chemical usage in daily floor maintenance applications by up to 100% and reduces waste materials by up to 99%.”
The South African branch of international sustainable cleaning solutions provider, Ecolab, has stocked the Twister range since December 2011. Marketing and key account manager Andrea Bowker says, “Ecolab is committed to providing effective and sustainable cleaning solutions to all industries. Globally, Ecolab has approved this cleaning system and has incorporated the Twister pads into its floor care programmes.”
Ecolab introduced the Twister range to the Johannesburg events venue, Summer Place, for use on its marble floors. Summer Place general manager, Mary Krchnavy, says that in just three months the venue has already seen noticeable results.
“The Twister range of floor pads has proven to be more environmentally friendly, cost-effective and time-saving than the conventional cleaning methods employed previously, which also required the use of harsh and abrasive chemicals. With the Twister range, cleaning and maintenance times have been reduced significantly and the floor has a brighter sparkle than ever before. Achieving these results in an environmentally friendly way is important to Summer Place,” she says.
Toftemo says that with the HTC Twister range the user simply needs to sweep the floor of debris, select the appropriate Twister pad, add water and start the cleaning machine to achieve a perfect finish. “Because no chemicals are required, the water used can be recycled – so water can be saved – and the costs associated with transport and storage of chemical products are also substantially reduced.”
The Twister floor pads are available in sizes ranging from 4 to 28 inches and can be fitted to any mechanical floor cleaning machine to bring a sparkling clean finish to any dull or worn floor surface by using varying grades of abrasion. Toftemo points out that one HTC Twister pad can clean up to 30 000m2 of floor surface, ensuring further significant cost savings.
Since it was launched in South Africa in 2010, the HTC Twister range has been put to use in applications ranging from hospitals to retail and industrial warehousing.
