Apex SCP Traffic Doors are among the most frequently specified doors for restaurants, banquet halls, dining facilities and other food service applications. The appeal of these double action high traffic doors is in their smooth operation and especially reliable hinge system.
Introduced to the local market by Apex Strip Curtains & Doors, the Apex SCP Traffic Door also offers branding opportunities and can be fully customised for any application. Options range across a wide selection of colours, window sizes, impact plate configurations and graphics depicting slogans or corporate logos.
Wim Dessing senior, managing director of Apex Strip Curtains & Doors, says, “This door is ideal for areas that don’t require a particularly heavy duty traffic door and where a conventional swing door would simply not suit the purpose. Typical applications for the double action doors include bars, restaurants, convenience stores and take-away food outlets.”
“Double action” describes a door that swings in both directions – inwards and outwards. This means the door will always swing away from the person or load passing through it, allowing for easy and safe passage. The primary usage of this type of door is where areas need to be separated for visual, environmental or sound control.
“For kitchens in restaurants or institutional dining rooms the double action swing door offers easy passage for waiters carrying food to and from the customers’ dining area as they do not have to use their hands to open the door,” explains Dessing. “Retail stores use double action doors to maintain a separation between warehouse or stock areas and the sales area. Food markets also find them useful for efficient stocking of display shelves from the storage areas.
“The Apex SPC double action doors have perimeter gaskets that allow them to be used where a temperature differential must be maintained between two areas. In addition, they can be used in single or double panel configurations to suit smaller or larger openings.”
The easy swing system spreads the impact “shock” throughout the door so that it is absorbed without causing any damage. The door opens with a gentle pressure and has a designed-in delay in the open position before it returns slowly, but positively, to a closed position.
Protective options can be placed on the doors to protect them against rough pallets, carts or other traffic passing through the opening and vision panels can be sized and positioned to meet regulatory and safety needs.
