Products supplied by Chryso SA have been used in the construction of new paving surfaces in Port Elizabeth.
Patrick Flannigan, commercial sales manager for Chryso SA in the Eastern Cape, says the company’s Chryso Plast Omega 101 admixture was used to add workability to the concrete mix used for new exposed aggregate paving at the Donkin Memorial in the city as well as the public areas around the Port Elizabeth City Hall.
The paving was commissioned by the Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality and the contractor for the projects was Rand Civils.
“Chryso Plast Omega 101 is a relatively new, non-toxic plasticiser developed by Chryso in Europe in response to requests from customers for concrete that will retain its workability from batching to pouring on site, as well as for improved general aesthetics in concrete,” says Flannigan. “It is sufficiently flexible to be used in a wide range of dosages and it helps fluidity to be maintained for up to two hours, to accommodate problems that may arise on site,” he adds.
Chryso SA also supplied its Decolav PO5 user-friendly surface retarder to provide consistent depth of edge to the exposed aggregate paving, as well as Lanxess Bayferrox 4180 Plum iron oxide pigmentation to add colour to the concrete used.
The same pigmentation was supplied by Chryso to colour the concrete that was used for the surfacing of walkways at the St George’s Park Soccer World Cup Fan Club. Chryso’s Lanko primer was used as bonding agent for that project.
