Conveniently located in a fast growing residential and commercial suburb just outside Worcester, the 15-million-rand project was started from scratch. Two long retaining walls were needed to support the cut and fill slopes on site.
BVI Consulting Engineers specified the extensively tested and proven Terraforce block system, which was expertly installed by Ruwacon, under the watchful eyes of construction manager, Pierre Coetzee.
Coetzee says, “A total of 12160 L11 Terraforce blocks were installed, in combination with a stormwater convenance and retention system to be used for irrigation of the waterwise planting in the blocks and elsewhere on site. Also, the lower wall was designed as a double skin installation to handle the expected heavy traffic loads above.”

The new Engen station was officially launched 3rd April 2023 and once the planting by Landscape Garden Co. is established, the walls will blend effectively into the surrounding environment.
