In early 2022, a fire destroyed parts of a popular restaurant, Fahrenheit Seafood and Grill in Edenvale, east of Johannesburg. No one was injured, but in just 20 minutes severe damage occurred.
Revamping the restaurant
George Nicolaides and Partners contacted Africote Paint & Seamless Wall & Floor Solutions to assist in revamping the restaurant. Africote, along with George and his wife, Sandy, embarked on a journey of product and colour choices to achieve their vision.
Roman plaster adds texture
The wine room was the starting point, where Roman Plaster was used on the walls and ceilings, and Valencia was used on the floor to achieve an all-round underground cellar which was sealed with epoxy.
Coordinating the colours, several feature walls were made with Roman plaster to add texture to the large space that had to be renovated. This created the sense of tradition that the restaurant was renowned for.
Creating the perfect look
The clients loved the look that was created, so more wall features and products were added, including all interior and exterior paints.
Different textures to add character
Stucco, which is ideal for high-moisture areas, was put into the bathrooms. It was sealed with a high-gloss epoxy to assist with disinfecting and regular cleaning.
Fresco, a paint system with a variegated gentle marble finish, was used in the wallpapered venue room.
Roman plaster added more dimension to the exterior colours and broke the monotony of the painted walls. Textured Naturals, a heavily textured coating, was used frequently to assist in bridging hairline cracks and to aid in covering blemishes.
Interior Paint XP Velvet, a top-quality finish, was used inside as it is ideal for areas that need frequent cleaning and maintenance. The chosen colours were carefully placed to accentuate the many features the restaurant has to offer.
The creative combination of their various selections of Africote products, from Wall Skim Stucco Plasters to cementitious flooring products and finally to a wide range of decorative paints for walls in carefully selected and matched colours, brings the unique features of this highly impressive restaurant to life, with the various rooms and seating areas offering a unique and vibrant aesthetic appeal. These design and product features and of course the good food and service, have contributed to the success of the final look and feel of the newly renovated and stylish Fahrenheit Restaurant
