Originally scheduled to have been launched, before Covid lockdown measures put a spanner
in the works. Although partially based on our original 1992 Design Manual, the new extended
version involved the participation of professionals in three countries, who were now faced with
extraordinary challenges to deal with.
The guide deals with the theory of gravity retaining wall design, with worked examples, as well
as with the theory of composite retaining wall design.
In addition, the guide has built-in links to useful design tools to assist in design, construction
and supervision routines. Cautionary notes and notes for contractors are included as well as
a Table Creator to obtain design values for our blocks and to help in estimating material costs.
There will be a link to the Maxiwall Pro software for the design of composite retaining walls,
as well as a link to Terrasafe, our in-house design service.
A small number of free-loaders, also known as reverse-engineers, (so named after a left-over,
sanctions busting apartheid-era legislation) make it necessary to provide access to the guide
via a portal that requires user registration.
The guide is complete and after final checks, will be launched via our website within a few days.
