Magnet, specialist in the supply, installation and support of electrical equipment and industrial instrumentation, has recently opened a training division.
Managing director Brian Howarth says, “This is an exciting development for the electrical sector where there is growing demand for practical training in product selection, energy efficiency, installation rules, repair and maintenance requirements, as well as safety inspections in the commercial, industrial and domestic sectors. Magnet’s training programmes will cover all areas in the industry, including electrical installations in hazardous locations.”
The company has appointed Brian Bilton to head up the new training department. “A former Durban Electricity Department installation inspector, Bilton is a well-known and highly respected specialist in the electrical sector,” says Howarth.
Magnet will also offer ‘Certificate of Compliance’ courses, encompassing the requirements for verification and certification according to SANS 10142 and SANS 10108, which are critical in any project.
A full training calendar has been scheduled for 2012. Courses will be run at Magnet branches in Durban, Richards Bay and Johannesburg.
