a.b.e. Construction Chemical is celebrating 70 years of successful business operations in South Africa. The company is today one of the leading suppliers of specialised construction products to the building, civil engineering and building maintenance industries. The roots of the company can, in fact, be traced back to 1932 when the Durban shipping company, Corrie Man George, acquired 50% of the English company, International Bitumen Emulsions (IBE).

Various concrete repair and waterproofing products have been supplied by a.b.e. Construction Chemicals for repairs on the Transnet underwater tunnel which follows the perimeter of the Port of Durban’s Pier 1. a.b.e. technical sales consultant in Durban, Deon de Kock, says the company’s durarep FR, epidermix 344, duraflex and durakol GHM, were applied by contractor, GVK Siya Zama, to repair spalled concrete areas in the container terminal’s services tunnel.
