Compact and Mini Instantaneous Water Heaters

Mini and compact instantaneous water heaters are excellent choices for small to medium amounts of hot water, such as are required at a hand washbasin or in the kitchen. The big advantage of this decentralised solution is that hot water is available almost instantaneously, avoiding potential losses in the supply line. Instantaneous water heaters only ever heat the exact amount of hot water that is currently required. The technology, “Made in Germany”, is reliable and durable and never fails to impress.

Water conservation where it counts

South Africa staged its National Water Week campaign from 5 to 11 March 2012 and the United Nations International World Water Day is coming up on 22 March. Ahead of the events lined up for National Water Week, the Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs, Edna Molewa, called on all South Africans to make a positive contribution towards conserving and protecting the country’s water resources. She noted that these already scarce resources are further threatened by high levels of pollution in dams and rivers and by the extent of water wastage that occurs in our homes and cities, in industry and agriculture.  While government at national level deals with water policy, water quality and the development of major water supply schemes, when it comes to water conservation and the wise use of this precious resource it seems that the focus unavoidably shifts to local authorities. Indeed at a local level every one of us can do something to save water and reduce water wastage – in our homes and workplaces at least. At the same time, it seems fair to expect that local authorities, and specifically local water authorities, could do more to minimise water losses.

Stiebel Eltron instant water heaters

The “tankless” water heater or “instant” water heater, as they are known, differ from conventional storage type water heaters (geysers) in several ways. The unit does not store hot water; instead, water is heated instantly as it flows through the appliance.

Saving water through plastics

The earth is parched. Worldwide, countries are facing periods of intense drought. Areas such as California are currently in the midst of the worst drought the state has seen in its 164-year history, with 38 million residents under strict water conservation rules to reduce urban consumption by 25 % compared to 2013.

eThekwini municipal services benefits from Dutch funding

A R200-million grant from the Dutch government will play a substantial role in helping the eThekwini Municipality to roll out its key water and sanitation projects over the next three years. These include the supply of safe drinking water and sanitation to some 800 000 people living in informal settlements, as well as the asbestos-cement pipe replacement project and the monitoring, management and reduction of water losses.
