A new vista in windows and doors

Duro Pressings’ acquisition of Windcolor adds a new dimension to the company, which is a leading manufacturer and distributor of steel and aluminium window and door systems for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Executive director of Duro Pressings, Phillip Tobiansky, says Windcolor has been owned and managed by an Italian-South African family for the past 25 years – importing and distributing high-tech Italian-style window and door systems.

Exporting windows and doors to SADC markets

Duro Pressings executive director Phillip Tobiansky says that, as a leading South African fabricator of steel and aluminium building components and systems used in low cost and affordable home construction, Duro is now driving exports into the SADC region. “The provision of cost-effective housing remains today one of the most pressing development needs in South Africa as well as other SADC countries and Duro is perfectly geared to be part of the solution,” he says. Jeff Slome, the company’s business development manager who is coordinating the SADC initiative, says Duro already has firm market footholds in Namibia, Zambia and Botswana for its cost-effective range of steel and aluminium window and door frames. The company is also making strong headway with other products such as steel garage doors and galvanised steel roof trusses.

Wide open options in windows and doors

SA-based Duro Pressings recently acquired Windcolor, a well established business that has been operating in South Africa and Botswana over the past 30 years. This acquisition complements the Duro Group's existing product range with an exclusive window and door system. Windcolor is an integrated system of cold-rolled galvanised steel sections, fittings and gaskets for making windows, doors and doorframes. The Windcolor system allows the architect or designer to design windows and doors in almost any size and any colour.
