Infrastructure investment conference for Electra Mining 2012

Deutsche Messe will launch its first ever event in South Africa with the International Infrastructure & Invest Convention – IIC – to run 12 to 13 September, in parallel with Electra Mining Africa at the Expo Centre, Nasrec in Johannesburg.  The convention will cover the topics of energy efficiency, smart grids, renewable energies, water and wastewater management and transport infrastructure. It is being organised by Hannover Fairs International – a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Messe – and the Southern African German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAGCCI).

Women-led departments show support for women in construction and transport sectors

South Africa’s National Department of Human Settlements and Department of Women in the Presidency are set to participate in the 5th annual Women in Construction Awards which will take place on 24 May 2017 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Aligned with the theme of International Women’s Day, #BeBoldForChange, the Women in Construction Awards aim to acknowledge the increasingly important role women play in the built environment and also to laud the expanded roles now available to women in this industry.

The SAICE Infrastructure Report Card 2011

The SAICE Infrastructure Report Card for South Africa 2011 (IRC), the second of its kind, was released in April by the South African Institution of Civil Engineering (SAICE). It provides a valuable reference for continuing development in the built environment and to focus government’s budgeted infrastructure spend. The IRC 2011 rates the overall condition of our national infrastructure at C-. This it classifies as “satisfactory for now”, although stressed at peak periods and in need of investment in the current medium-term expenditure framework period to avoid serious deficiencies.
