Isofoam South Africa (Pty) Ltd, was established in 1995 by the Kharafi Group of companies, with the aim of introducing IsoBoard Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) Thermal Insulation board to the South African Market.
IsoBoard thermal insulation is a high density, extruded polystyrene rigid insulation board, having a 100% closed cell structure. IsoBoard has been tried and tested internationally since 1970, and manufactured in South Africa since 1995, using a fully automated extrusion process, in accordance with international specifications and standards.
Nutec fascia and barge boards have been designed to suit virtually any roof, whether slates, tiles or sheeting. They provide a functional finish by protecting the underlying timber structure from the elements, as well as adding visual impact to the building.
Isoboard heat gain in residential homes is largely through the roof structure. Insulated ceilings retard heat flow into the living areas in summer, and contain generated heat in winter, providing a comfortable living environment.
The Trellidor Aluminium Retractable Security gate is elegant and uncluttered with no visible rivets. It is ideal for environments such as coastal areas as it is made from structural steel to avoid the corrosion problems associated with these conditions and to provide additional strength. These gates are top hung and engineered to open and close smoothly. They are fully framed to enhance their strength.
When it comes to material selection, weight is a limiting factor in heritage site projects and it’s particularly important to keep structural load to a minimum. A drywall that is ten times lighter than traditional walls was used, assembled with noggins, load-bearing studs and tracks to reinforce additional strength.
The development of Silo Hotel, located above the Zeitz Mocca, features a variety of Saint-Gobain Gyproc plasterboard materials that contain sustainability, comfort and safety properties. Selecting the right materials for the hotel and detailing product systems that would add the most value to the building, was a major part of Saint-Gobain’s contribution to the project.
Two Cape Town buildings that incorporate drywall systems and raise interior construction standards will be showcased by the South African representatives of Saint-Gobain Gyproc. The first is Zeitz MOCAA and the second is the Silo Hotel.
Light steel frame building is a building system where the main structural elements consist of structural wall frames, roof trusses and floor joists manufactured from cold-formed light gauge galvanised steel. GRS offers the full package for larger building projects.
