Growing SA's steel construction industry

Paolo Trinchero, who recently took over from Dr Hennie de Clercq as CEO of the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction (SAISC), would like to see the southern African steel construction industry grow by at least by 5% per year for the next 10 years. “This will require improving relationships with our African counterparts and being proactive in looking for opportunities in the relevant existing and emerging sectors in South Africa and the sub-Saharan region,” he says.

Steel Awards 2011 – all the winners

Dr Hennie de Clercq, executive director of the Southern African Institute of Steel Construction (SAISC), said at the awards ceremony, “We congratulate the winners and, at the same time, emphasise the exceptional quality of all the entries, which augurs so well for the future of our industry.”  The Steel Awards, hosted by the SAISC, with the Aveng Group as the main sponsor, were staged simultaneously in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town on 15th September 2011.
