Specialised metal paint

Hammerite from Dulux is specially formulated as a paint for metal and, unlike conventional metal paint, Hammerite has the advantage that it can be applied directly onto metal without the need for a primer and undercoat first. It is ideal for use on metals that rust, such as iron or steel, as well as on galvanised steel, copper and brass. Hammerite Metal Paints require minimal surface preparation before application and offer a good looking finish and long-lasting protection for metal. Rust, the enemy of all metalwork, is formed by the reaction of iron and oxygen in the presence of water or moisture in the air. Given enough time, oxygen, water and any mass of iron will turn to rust. Hammerite is formulated to provide eight years of corrosion resistance. It makes use of a specialised alkyd technology and is designed to form a tough barrier that sheds moisture to provide long-lasting protection.
