Gauteng’s dry winter months provide the ideal opportunity to test and remedy the integrity of waterproofing in buildings and drainage systems. This is the advice of Andrew McFarlane, co-owner of Damp King, which is a member of the Gauteng Master Builders Association (GMBA) and a leader in the field of damp and waterproofing treatment in the province. McFarlane says when waterproofing problems are identified, the building contractors may opt to reroute water flows or rebuild parts of structures to prevent further leaks. “However, where damp is concerned or where large-scale problems occur, professional contractors will usually hire expert damp and waterproofing companies to remedy the situation. Damp King works closely with contractors or building owners to solve water-related problems and understands the challenges associated with retrofitting damp protection and waterproofing measures,” he says.
