A cut ahead in carpeting

New from the Nexus division of Belgotex, ZigZag combines the comfort of velour with hardwearing performance and a unique, surface relief appearance. The revolutionary new carpet range – ZigZag – from the Nexus commercial division of Belgotex Floorcoverings, is a world first in non-woven graphics velour carpet tile.

Named for its distinctive V-shaped herringbone pattern, ZigZag presents a striking 3-D optical illusion which is created by its ‘hi-lo’ non-woven graphics velour construction. It is finding favour with architects and designers, with recent installations in prestigious projects such as the Department of Water Affairs in Pretoria and Osiris Trading at Melrose Arch, in Johannesburg.

ZigZag’s relief appearance offers architects and designers the creative freedom to design formal, uniform patterns or striking geometric contrasts, in ten traditional colourways.

Combining all the comfort of a velour with the hardwearing performance and graphic versatility usually found only in needlepunch ranges, ZigZag opens a whole new era of sophisticated geometric design in softer, luxurious finishes.

The range is suitable for commercial, hospitality and corporate installations. It is available in either ResinBac or NexBac modular tiles, and is made from hi-tech Stainproof Miracle Fibre, the latest in design and yarn technology.

Frank Moffat, chief executive officer of Belgotex Floorcoverings, notes, “Technical marketing has always led our product development, but ZigZag is probably our most exciting development yet.”

The company’s investment in equipment and constant innovation keeps it abreast of the latest international developments so it can offer products of increasing quality and more diverse ranges at various price points. Exclusive manufacturing processes, such as those used to produce hi-tech fibres like Stainproof SDX and Stainproof Miracle Fibre, are used for Belgotex commercial ranges. These include, among others, Cosmopolitan, Baltimore and Nautical broadloom carpets, as well as the newer Time Square, Time Zone and Base Line carpet tiles.

Designer Marius Jansen van Vuuren says, “We experimented for three years with the production capabilities of a machine that is usually used in the automotive industry. The result produced the world’s first non-woven graphics velour carpet tile – ZigZag. We are currently awaiting patent registration.”
