– The Intelligent homeCEDIA is the abbreviation for the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association. CEDIA is the international trade organization for the home electronic system industry.

CEDIA members specialise in the planning, design, supply and installation of automated electronic systems for the modern, intelligent home. They can install anything from multiroom audio and home cinema to complete home networks and sub-systems that intelligently control lighting, security, HVAC, and even garden facilities, from lighting to watering.

Imagine a life made simpler in homes, by finger-tip electronic control over entertainment, lighting, security and heating from a single touch screen. Envisage a home electronic system designed and installed to reflect your personality and your lifestyle. Program and operate your home’s lighting, heating, air-conditioning and water systems to improve the comfort, ambience and quality of your own environment whilst ensuring optimum fuel and resource efficiency.

Welcome to today’s integrated, electronic home allowing you to control, conceal and operate electronic systems within your home as never before.

What is an Integrated Home Electronic System?

Every electronic system is based on a ‘structured’ network of wire and, where appropriate, wireless technology distributing data, voice, audio and video signals to one room or every room in your house. The system shares information over a computer network, controls lighting and security, heating, curtains and drapes, and much more besides.

Projects carried out by CEDIA members can vary enormously in size and complexity. From a simple two-way intercom system, to a home cinema with high definition plasma or drop-down screen and projector, surround-sound system, in-wall speakers, special lighting, automated blinds and individual, motion activated seating, and beyond this to a complete whole-house solution where every electronic system is integrated.

Why use a CEDIA member?

Designing and installing an integrated electronic home demands expert product, systems and applications knowledge, along with specific project management and installation skills.

CEDIA members are exceptionally well-informed and trained in the latest technologies, design, project management and installation techniques. CEDIA’S international education program runs throughout the year, with courses covering a comprehensive range of technologies, system designs and installation techniques together with business and project management topics.
