Datlink is a local supplier of thermal and acoustic products that are made from recovered & recycled polyester (PET – coke/water bottles etc.). Our product range includes fibre blankets and fibreboards to address both thermal insulation and acoustic problems.
The goal of Datlink is providing an upgraded insulation and roofing solution to all sectors of the industry. Recent legislation stipulates improved thermal solutions within both heavily and lightly populated working and living environments and covers the full range from domestic through to industrial buildings. Recent educational drives, seminars and courses have helped make the legislation more understandable for both end-users and specifiers, but the knowledge of which products are the best ‘fit for purpose’ within this legislation still requires continuous input. Datlink prides itself on supplying this input to professional architects, engineers and end-users across the construction and supply industry.
Just as important as choosing the correct product is identifying the correct details and fixing methods that ensure that the product choice is installed according to the specifications. The Datlink team is dedicated to making sure that the correct products are used in accordance with the client’s brief, the legislation and the allocated budget. MD of Datlink Insulation & Acoustics, Craig Fussell, has one major goal; that is to make sure that the company supplies both a full technical design support service at the design stage and an efficient and cost-effective supply of the suitably specified material. This hands-on approach ensures that the client actually receives their originally designed ‘fit for purpose’ environment and avoids unnecessary disappointment if the original (correct) specification was changed without their full understanding of the implications.

EM-Sulation: a polyester fibre blanket that is supplied in roll form (blankets) in various thicknesses and densities. Friendly to the touch and will not irritate the skin, it will not collapse over time and retains its loft.
ThermocousTex Board: a thermally bonded polyester board ideal for both thermal and acoustic insulation in various thicknesses and densities. Installed as a suspended ceiling, under the roof over purlin or as side cladding within buildings.
ThermocousTex Fibre: a thermally bonded polyester fibre supplied in roll form (blankets) in various thicknesses and densities. Ideal for both thermal and acoustic insulation it is installed on top of the ceiling, over purlin or in the cavity wall.

Thermocoustex plain board is a thermally bonded polyester board manufactured using recycled polyester (PET Coke bottles etc.) and is ideal for both thermal and acoustic insulation. Thermocoustex is suitable for domestic, industrial and commercial ceilings and offers excellent acoustic and thermal performance in one product.
To reduce the unpleasantly loud and irritating noise reverberation within the most multi purpose school auditoriums, a simple retro fit solution using cost effective ThermoCoustex boards will resolve the problem. In this example, ThermocousTex boards were vertically suspended off steel wires spanning across the underside of the roof, and then clipped onto the wire at equal spacings resulting in vertical fins. Datlink Insulation and Acoustics is proud that our products, ThermocousTex Fibre and Romatherm Insulation, were specified and supplied to two new schools in the Western Cape in March’15. ThermocousTex Fibre was installed over purlin on straining wires and sandwiched up against the steel roof sheet. This contact with the roof sheet prevents drumming of the roof sheet which creates an environment within the school that is not prone to losing teaching days from excessive rain, wind or traffic noise. ThermocousTex Fibre Blankets (Foil) were specified and installed over purlins on straining wires in the Bellville Station. This product was specified as it has both excellent acoustic dampening benefits (by preventing the steel roof sheets from vibrating) and excellent thermal insulation properties. As a member of TIASA (Thermal Insulation Association of South Africa), Datlink Insulation and Acoustics is required to re-new existing Fire Tests on their products every five years. This was done recently on ThermocousTex Fibre Blankets and ThermocousTex Boards. Both products maintained their original Fire Rating of “no-flame spread” and were rated with the B/B1/2 rating as before, which conforms to the legislation as set out in the Building Regulations SANS 10400-XA.
The Noise Reduction Coefficient (commonly abbreviated NRC) is a scalar representation of the amount of sound energy (acoustic energy) absorbed upon striking a particular surface. 35mmThick ThermocousTex Boards have a NRC Value of 0.85 and are available in white, marble, and black colours, all of which have identical acoustic performance. These boards are ideal for noisy environments where efficient, cost effective sound absorption solutions are required. Examples of applicable noisy environments are recording studios, church’s, airports, train stations, schools, sports centres, auditorium’s, etc.

Thermocoustex Fibre and Thermocoustex Metro Boards were specified and fitted in both Cape Town International and Kigali International Airports.
