About ECSA – Engineering Council Of South Africa:

The Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is a statutory body established in terms of the Engineering Profession Act 2000 (Act No. 46 of 2000). ECSAs predecessor was established by Engineering Profession of South Africa Act 1990 (Act No. 114 of 1990). Apart from administrative provisions, the principal focus of the Act is aimed at promoting the safety, health and interests of the public in relation to the engineering work and Professional Conduct of persons registered with ECSA. Mission: To ensure, through a co-operative process of quality assurance, that persons wishing to enter the profession are educated and trained according to widely accepted standards, so as to be able to render a professional service for the benefit of the public and the country as a whole.
