The Grove Mall Upgrades

We teamed up with Bau Africa, the head architects on this project, and WF Kroon Projects in specifying new Entrance Matting Systems at The Grove Mall. Housing over 100 retails, The Grove Mall has a high foot count and it was, therefore, essential to specify an Internal and External Entrance Matting System that will be able to take the punch.

From Fashion and Footwear to Fine Dining and Entertainment, you are able to experience it all. With the recent upgrade and addition of Checkers, it was the ideal opportunity to upgrade the Entrance Matting Systems at Entrance 5.

The importance of Entrance Matting Systems

It might seem excessive to install both interior and exterior Entrance Matting Systems, but each of these has its own purpose. Exterior walk-off mats are typically used to help remove dirt, debris, and the first layer of moisture from the bottom of shoes before people enter the building. Being exposed to harsh weather conditions these mats need to be made of durable hardwearing material such as rubber.

The Premier Track Range is exceptionally durable inserts manufactured from ECONYL®, a recycled nylon material made from discarded fishing nets and other sources. Part of our EasyInstall® range, you can easily remove, add or replace any of the Premier Track tiles as needed.

An Interior walk-off mat normally has higher scraping and absorbing abilities to remove the remainder of moisture and debris. These mats are usually made of polypropylene which is known for its scraping capabilities. With both Interior and Exterior Entrance Matting, it is important to choose the option that will be able to handle estimated traffic.

Our Trio Scraper® Entrance matting range is a superior high-traffic entrance mat, making this the ideal option for high-volume footfall. The anti-slip latex backing reduces the possibility of slips and trips and can be used as a loose lay mat with bevelled edges or in a recessed mat well.

Berberpoint Logomats is made from textured stainproof miracle fibres & eco fibre blends that provide you with outstanding scraper properties.  It is durable and is made with a non-slip gripper backing. Available in sophisticated colours and some playful, bright colours to create the perfect logo mat.

Similar to the Berberpoint, you can also choose a Spectra clean logo mat especially if you have a colourful logo design. The texture top surface provides you with outstanding scrubbing action whilst absorbing moisture to save your floors from dirty footprints.  A stylish option, yet very practical.

If you are looking for something a bit more unique and distinctive, then a Cushion Fall logomat is just for you.  The soft, compounded PVC looped surface traps dirt, debris, and moisture, all while also being durable.

Our Super contract Fall logomats are very similar to our Cushion Fall logomats, but has an open backing to allow dirt to fall through, making it easier to clean. Also available in various fun and vibrant colours to create the perfect logo mat for your business.

We worked together with 4Mat Managed Marketing Solutions on an Entrance Matting System for the N1 City Mall.  The results speak for themselves. DP Star Vessel | Interlocking Tiles | Anti-slip Mats

Successful installation was done on the DP Star Vessel

Thanks to Granville Williams, Production and Installations Controller at COBA Africa, the DP Star vessel is now equipped with brand-new floor covering. These interlocking tiles have a studded finish to assist with slipping hazards. The DP Star is a Standby Safety Vessel that was built in 1971 and is sailing under the flag of St Vincent Grenadines. The COBA Africa team is proud to assist with making this vessel safer from slip hazards. May you be safe out on the waters.

Fairmont High School

This was a very interesting project for the COBA Africa Team. Arjen Visscher and Granville Williams assisted Fairmont Hight School in removing their current Entrance Matting System and replacing it with a new one – a Natural Coir Entrance Mat.

The Natural Coir Entrance Mats are made of Coconut Husk Fibres that are coarse and renowned for their dirt-scraping properties. Bonded to a heavy-duty PVC anti-slip backing for minimum movement which makes it ideal to use indoors as a loose mat or in mat wells as done here at Fairmont High School. Plus you can have a logo printed on these mats as well to add a touch of personality. Inquire about our Natural Coir Logo mats.

What made this project so interesting was that Granville and his team had to remove the current Entrance Matting System, and the amount of dirt that was captured in these mats was quite astonishing. Just take a look at this – and this was only about 1/4 of the dirt that was extracted from these mats. It just goes to show how important Entrance Matting Systems are for any facility. Entrance mats or entrance barrier matting systems are used at entrances that need to endure a lot of traffic but trap in all of the dirt and moisture from visitors’ footwear.
