The customer Conoco-Phillips from Weybridge in Surrey wanted to protect the field joint connectors made from steel and GRP plastic with a tough, water-vapour-tight, sea water proof and highly abrasion resistant coating. VIP advised the use of QuickSpray Industrial to their approved applicator PPC from Keighley. After shotblasting the steel, the connectors were masked off. Then the steel surface was cleaned, afterwards primed with the QuickPrime 1K universal PU primer for superior bond to the substrate and than coated using a Gaco Reaktor HX-P2 hotspray machine. A film thickness of at least 3mm throughout was achieved easily and after just 1 hour the connectors were prepared for shipping on site.

The Vattenfall Europe Generation AG was searching for a new system for sealing and coating tanks on the inside with a high degree of abrasion resistance against the abrasive mixture of chalk and water. On an already coated tank, where the old coating partly became delaminated, the choose to have an area of 40 m² freshly coated to evaluate the new Quickspray Industrial LSE (aromatic). RIW as preferred Applicator was available at short notice to do the repair even in harsh winter conditions.
