abe® Project | Audi Claremont Western Cape

abe.®cron dry-shake surface hardener provided a low cost solution for hardening this automotive maintenance area and to create a more attractive, uniform appearance of the floor.  abe.®flo epoxy self-levelling flooring system at 2mm was perfect to cater for Audi’s high hygiene standards with good colour retention and a medium gloss finish.

abe® Project | Futurelife Production Plant

abe.®cote 400 Hi-build is an economical four-component, solvent-free epoxy flooring system comprising a clear resin and hardener, pre-packed filler and a ready for- use pigment paste. Ideal for food processing plants and can be used as binder for abrasive grit to yield nonslip floor finishes. abe.®cote 400 Hi-build has good protective qualities and resistance to chemicals. Reduces maintenance, seamless and hygienic and is available in a range of colours.

abe® Project | Mondi Warehouse Floor

Paper storage. abe.® co mastic is a heavy duty, cold-laid bituminous mastic consisting of stone chippings, Portland Cement, sand and a  binder, flintkote 3.  Single areas laid often exceeds 10 000m2.  Joints are normally unnecessary.  Construction joints disappear after a few days of traffic exposure.  Also for floor repair, including timber surfaces.

abe® Project | Royal Pine Meats Butchery

Royal Meats required a surface that could withstand daily high pressure cleaning and chemical attack. The surface also needed to be non-slip and hygienic. abe.®screed PU HS was recommended as it fulfilled all of these requirements.

abe® Project | Shoprite DC Floor

Flooring for distribution centre. abe® flooring resin epoxy system is a solvent free, clear, two component, low viscosity epoxy resin system which is cycloaliphatic amine cured (clear light colour). Further advantages include a proven system with a universal formulation, reduced moisture and carbon dioxide sensitivity, cures well down to +10°C, easily applied, good chemical resistance with less sensitivity  against humidity and low viscosity.

General Construction & Concrete Repair

abe® Project | Trippler - Concrete Repair

A tippler ceased to function and had to be repaired. durarep FMC (Fluid Micro Concrete) was chosen as the primary product to allow quicker curing of the repairs to the support columns as well as delivering the required tensile strength of 30 MPa in 3 days. dura.®rep FMC is a cement based non-shrink concrete reinstatement grout, which can be applied by pouring or pumping. The product is supplied in a ready-to-use form requiring only the addition of a small amount of water for easy mixing to produce a fluid consistency. This can then be applied 50 mm or thicker into suitable shuttered repair areas.

abe® Project | ACSA PE Airport- Concrete Repair

Dow Corning®890 SL is a self-levelling silicone sealant  for concrete and concrete to asphalt pavement joints. Flows into irregular joint widths and does not require tooling. Weather and UV resistant. epidermix 345 is a wet-to-dry epoxy adhesive with extended open time and is useful for structural bonding of fresh wet concrete to existing concrete. Ideal for bridges, pavements, loading bays and factories. dura.rep® FMC – shrinkage compensated fluid micro-concrete, is a cement based non-shrink concrete reinstatement grout which can be applied by pouring or pumping.

abe® Project | Mondi Chipper Plant - Concrete Repair

Upgrade and concrete repair work of Mondi Chipper Plant. dura.®grout is a ready-to-use (merely add water) Portland cement based grouting compound. It contains graded siliceous aggregate and chemical reagents which prevent shrinkage during curing. epidermix 344 is a two component, solvent free, polysulphide modified epoxy adhesive. If applied onto reinforcing steel it will cause no loss of concrete/steel bond strength and quickly develops place-able consistency and remains cohesive, does not segregate and shrink

Upgrading of Kruisfontein Waste Water Treatment Works. dura. joint SW-R (swellable waterstop rubber) is a Hydrophilic Butyl rubber waterstop manufactured into high performance synthetic elastomer strips. Ideal for sealing of prefabricated concrete element e.g. joints in tunnels and shafts and may also be used for open joints. dura. joint SW-R are made from new generation expanding rubber sealing material that can handle expansion up to 400% and is stable during the swelling process. dura. joint External E PVC are placed on blinding layers prior to casting footing.

The dura.®joint waterstop range is extruded from specially formulated PVC material, which whilst flexible is easily welded on site to provide the primary seal in the waterproofing of water retaining and/or water excluding structures. Prevention of regress or ingress of water or liquids through construction or expansion joints in water retaining or excluding structures such as dams, reservoirs, digesters, water towers, canals, basements, car parks and retaining walls.

abe® Project | Kanengo Silo Project - Concrete Repair

The rehabilitation of the grain silos. The repair and upgrade was carried out by using abe®silocoat – an elastomeric cementitious waterproofing coating that cures to form an impermeable membrane. abe®silocoat is a two component polymer modified cementitious coating, supplied in a pre-packaged form.  Advantages are excellent crack accommodation after immersion, effective barrier to sulphates and chlorides and low pH.  Withstands high positive and negative hydrostatic pressures. abe® silocoat is approved for use in contact with portable water.

abe® VIP Germany | Chalktank at Power Plant - Germany

The Vattenfall Europe Generation AG was searching for a new system for sealing and coating tanks on the inside with a high degree of abrasion resistance against the abrasive mixture of chalk and water. On an already coated tank, where the old coating partly became delaminated, the choose to have an area of 40 m² freshly coated to evaluate the new Quickspray Industrial LSE (aromatic). RIW as preferred Applicator was available at short notice to do the repair even in harsh winter conditions. To save time and money the customer choose QuickSpray Industrial LSE (Non stick version with low surface energy), a 100% Polyurea 2-K Hot Spray Coating based on Prepolymer and Polyamine technology.

abe® VIP Germany | Coating Deep Freeze Transtport Boxes for Overath - Lohmar

An internationally renowned Maker of Transport Boxes was searching for a system, to make foamboxes more resilliant longterm and to make them suitable for deep freeze storage. For this reason our applicator Rüdiger Schmidt advocated QuickSpray Industrial W, a 100% pure 2K Polyurea Hotspray System, with WRAS drinking wate certificate, to coat the finished boxes.

abe® VIP Germany | Coating Field Joint Seals for Conoco Phillips - Weybridge

The customer Conoco-Phillips from Weybridge in Surrey wanted to protect the field joint connectors made from steel and GRP plastic with a tough, water-vapour-tight, sea water proof and highly abrasion resistant coating. VIP advised the use of QuickSpray Industrial to their approved applicator PPC from Keighley. After shotblasting the steel, the connectors were masked off. Then the steel surface was cleaned, afterwards primed with the QuickPrime 1K universal PU primer for superior bond to the substrate and than coated using a Gaco Reaktor HX-P2 hotspray machine. A film thickness of at least 3mm throughout was achieved easily and after just 1 hour the connectors were prepared for shipping on site.

abe® VIP Germany Project | Park Deck Coating for Consolvo Oslo

The Management Company of a Moose Park outside Oslo, wanted to protect their existing Parking garage with 3 decks to ensure a water tight system that would prevent leakages on the lower decks, and also offer a high degree of surface protection against wear and tear, paired with ease of cleaning.  Quickspray Industrial slow, a slow set floor coating, designed for flooring operations that need a flat result without dry overspray was used.

abe® VIP Germany Project | Water & Power Project - Qatar

Ras Girtas Water & Power Projects required a WRAS Certified, fast curing surface coating system with high mechanical abrasion resistance, no VOC contents, no cracking and stable features for their newly constructed potable water tanks at the desalination plant at Ras Laffan.  Application with 1:1 heated, high-pressure, plural component equipment (Graco XP-2). Pressure of time for fast completion and cost advantages favoured QuickSpray Supreme W (aromatic), a WRAS Certified, 100% Polyurea 2-part Coating-System derived from a reaction of Isocyanate and Amine terminated resin.

abe® VIP Germany Project | Sum Wing for a deep sea Trawler - Nederland

PU Nederland got the order as new preferred applicator for VIP to coat a SumWing for a deep sea trawler. To save time and money the customer choose QuickSpray Industrial LSE, a 100% pure Polyurea 2-K Coating based on Prepolymer and Polyamine technology with very good non stick properties and a low surface energy.

Silicones, Sealants & Adhesives

abe® Project | Alice Lane Phase III Glazing and Weather Sealing

Structural glazing and weather sealing of a new building for Bowmans in the heart of the Sandton business district. The more than 70 000 linear meter of joints were sealed with Dow Corning 993, Structural Glazing Sealant which is a two-component, neutral curing silicone formulation specifically developed for the structural bonding of glass, metal and other building components. All joints were then sealed with Dow Corning 813C, which is a a one part, neutral curing, low modulus silicone sealant particularly suitable for interior and exterior applications, such as external weather seals, expansion joints and perimetral joints in buildings and other types of construction.

abe® Project | Sandton Sky Apartments, Glazing and Weather Sealing

Structural glazing and weather sealing of a new apartment building for Cri Eagle Investments. The joints were sealed with Dow Corning 993, Structural Glazing Sealant which is a two-component, neutral curing silicone formulation specifically developed for the structural bonding of glass, metal and other building components.  All joints were then sealed with Dow Corning 813C, which is a one- part, neutral curing, low modulus silicone sealant particularly suitable for interior and exterior applications, such as external weather seals, expansion joints and perimetral joints in buildings and other types of construction

abe® Project | 4 Stand Road Office Block - Cladding

3mm Thick Laminam ceramic panels on the facade of the building were bonded with Dow Corning 896 PanelFix. One-part, neutral curing alkoxy silicone sealant designed for non-glazed facade applications to structurally bond two substrates together.

abe® Project | The Atrum at Cavenish, Western Cape

Dow Corning 895 was chosen by the engineers due to the structural strength it provides, as well as the 15 year crack, craze and crumble warranty. The glass panels weighed between 100-200 kg.  Furthermore, they were afixed to a newly fitted, powder coated aluminium up to 80o on the façade. Dow Corning 813C was used as a weatherseal on the façade, where high performance glass (NC-55E) was used.

abe® Project | OR Tambo Delta Apron - Gauteng

This sealant’s self-levelling characteristics make it ideal for sealing irregularly shaped joints and cracks by providing adequate adhesion to the interfaces, without the need for tooling.  It can withstand the joint opening to twice its width and closing to half its width. It requires no primer and provides outstanding long-term performance in which extreme movement occurs. It is also jet fuel resistant.

abe® Project | Sanral N2 Umhloti, Joint Repair and Refurbishment

Dow Corning® 890-SL Silicone Joint Sealant is a onepart, self-levelling silicone sealant for concrete and concrete to asphalt pavement joints. Cures to an ultra-low-modulus silicone rubber upon exposure to atmospheric moisture. The cured silicone rubber remains flexible from -20 to 300°F. Asphaltic paving materials have low tensile strengths. It is important to use an ultra-low modulus material when sealing these substrates to ensure minimal strain is placed on the asphaltic joint face

Waterproofing

abe® Project | Two Oceans Aquarium Tanks Waterproofing

Install new waterproofing to all the horizontal and vertical areas around the 21-year-old tanks. Roof slabs, external tank walls, damp proof courses, door thresholds, and other ancillary areas. The areas were then primed with bitu.®prime, followed by a 4mm layer of Index Fidia P and 4mm layer of Index Testudo to the flat areas. The plinth and ramp areas were given an additional third layer for maximum protection. The 3 ply Malthoid was then applied as a protective layer prior to the sand and concrete paver slab installations. bitu.®prime is a bituminous sealer and primer for torch applied membranes. Index Fidia P membrane is manufactured from a compound of distilled bitumen and polymers, while Index Testudo is a high mechanical resistance, reinforced elasto-plastomeric polymer waterproofing membrane.

abe® Project | Parking Deck at Wynberg Military Hospital, Waterproofing

Fidia P is a waterproofing membranes made of polymer modified bitumen which have been reinforced with a rot proof fabric and a strengthened fibreglass mat, therefore has excellent stability to different temperatures.  The top face is covered with fine talc and the bottom face is embossed and lined with anti-adhesive film. Mineral versions are also produced on which the top face has slate granules. Whereas the Index VIS P is a waterproofing membrane made of polymer modified bitumen which is stabilized with a rot proof fabric / fibreglass composite reinforcing.

abe® Project | New Sasol Head Office Building - Waterproofing

a.b.e.® supplied three different torch applied products, for the appropriate areas, abe® unigum 3 mm, abe® unigum 4 mm and abe® unigum 4.5 kg. Uses are basement tanking, piazza areas, planters, balconies, general roof areas and specialised insulated roof areas. dura.®flex cementitious flexible slurry is a ready-to-use, non-toxic slurry based on a special synthetic resin dispersion and a blend of selected cements mixed with graded aggregates. It has high bond strength, cures by itself, and can be brush, trowel or spray applied. It yields as much as 180 mm equivalent concrete cover to provide more protection to the concrete and its rebar content than offered by conventional waterproofing slurries.

Unigum was applied with an underlay of 3 mm followed by an overlay of 4mm
