The downloads on this page are for the SPECXpert 2006/7Building Industry Reference Source CD-ROM program. Please take the time to read the download instructions!

Download Instructions:                 
1) Before downloading an update, create a download directory on your computer. Give the directory a descriptive name like ‘My Downloads’. If you do not want to create another directory on your computer you could simply use the ‘My Documents’ folder.
2) To start downloading click on one of the links at the end of this page. When prompted, select ‘Save this program to disk’ and click OK. Now select the ‘My Downloads’ or ‘My Documents’ directory on your computer and save the file.
3) When the file download completes either click on the ‘Open’ button or close the download window and run the file from the ‘My Downloads’ or ‘My Documents’ directory by double clicking on it.

Company Updates

AAAMSA - July 21 2006

Excellent generic information from AAAMSA, the Association of Architectural Aluminium Manufacturers. The first brochure is supplied by TIASA (Thermal Insulation Association of Southern Africa) and is called The Thermal Insulation Guide for Energy Efficiency in Buildings. A useful brochure aimed at improving energy efficiency and covering typical insulation options for wall, roof and ceiling constructions. The second is supplied by EPSASA (Expanded Polystyrene Association of South Africa) and covers the uses of EPS, particularly as it relates to roof, ceiling and wall constructions.

ASSA Abloy - July 21 2006

ASSA Abloy does have all their Union ironmongery and door furniture range on SPECXpert. This download incorporates product selectors that make it easier to decide on which products to specify for particular applications. There are four different selectors covering residential, commercial offices, health care and public works applications.

Addicom - September 8 2006

Addicom supplies Tecma Pumps, mini macerator pumps suitable for areas where waste water needs to be removed using small-bore pipes. Addicom also markets the EcoSmellstop System, a trap that can make virtually any existing urinal waterless and odourless. An EcoSmellstop system can save water and maintenance costs of at least R1700.00 per year. This means that a new installation pays for itself in less than six months while an existing waterborne unit converted into a waterless urinal will pay for itself in a few months.

AfScan - September 8 2006

The Purus range of stainless steel toilets and urinals are all manufactured in acid-resistant stainless steel AISI 316. There are floor-mounted and wall-mounted toilets available, as well as trough, wall and pillar urinals. A 'Flushfree' for public events area has also been introduced. Other products in this extensive range include washtroughs, foot wash troughs, washbasins, bucket sinks, drinking fountains, and all sorts of accessories to match. AfScan also supply Purus floor gullies, trapped or non-trapped, and all include a protective cover, grating and auto-adjust clamping ring. These are available in cast iron or various forms of plastics, depending on the application. The Purus stainless steel floor gullies and accessories are manufactured from acid-resistant stainless steel. Products mentioned include just a very small selection of the Purus range. Artex Coatings - September 29 2006

Artex is an internal decorative texture, applied by means of rollers. There are various texturing tools you can use to create the pattern you desire. This patented plaster finish is also the perfect solution to uneven surfaces, inferior workmanship, repairs, flaking plaster and damage. It also solves problems with unsightly ceiling strips, 'wavy' ceiling boards, unevenly plastered concrete slabs, the V-joint between panels in prestressed concrete slabs. It can be applied to standard lay-in ceiling tiles as well. Artex also install all types of ceilings, bulkheads, polystyrene and polyurethane mouldings, and drywall partitioning. Contract painting is also undertaken.

Alucushion - January 12 2007

Alucushion FR is a multi-purpose fire retardant grade insulation material used in factories, warehouses, shopping centres, schools, offices, residential buildings and affordable housing. Alucushion FR is a 4mm compounded foil, consisting of low-density polyethylene 'bubble' laminated on both sides with aluminium foil. Alternatively, Alucushion FR can be supplied with aluminium foil on one side, and a white polyethylene coating on the other.
