Handles, hinges, fittings on show in Durban

Handles Inc, an all-in-one shop for door handles and fittings, has now opened a new showroom in Umhlanga, Durban, offering architects, designers and end users the chance to walk in, see and sample a selection of some 6 000 products. Handles Inc  stocks over 11 exclusive international brands, such as Olivari, Zack and Mandelli, with products ranging from handles and hinges to fittings and bathroom accessories. Among the newest products is a range of unusually sculptured door handles – the Zamak Inspire collection by Didheya of Spain.

This collection results from Didheya’s collaboration with the Dehmen Studio of Industrial Design and its search for new colours, forms and textures. Experimenting with a combination of aluminium, zinc, copper and magnesium it has found a way to produce handles that will adopt almost any shape. The Zamak Inspire range is a collection of seven unique pieces. 

Handles Inc opened its first showroom in Cape Town more than eight years ago. It has subsequently opened a showroom also in Johannesburg, and now the third showroom in Durban.

Managing director, Lawrence Koff comments: "The existing showrooms have seen huge success, making products readily available to specifiers and end users and allowing them to walk into the showroom and sample items they are looking for. We’re sure the Durban showroom will offer the same convenience."

Umhlanga has developed significantly over the past several years to become one of the busiest residential and commercial hubs in Kwa-Zulu Natal and was seen as the perfect location for the new showroom.
