The top architectural graduates of 2010, from seven tertiary institutions in South Africa, will compete for the prestigious 24th Corobrik Architectural Student of the Year Award in March this year. The award winner will be announced on 30 March.
“Architects have a fundamental role to play in our developing economy to produce architecture that has holistic environmental integrity.
“While Corobrik initiated this competition 24 years ago to promote quality design and to acknowledge architectural talent among students, and that has not changed, this awards programme has, in the context of the prevailing sustainability paradigm, become an increasingly important catalyst for wider debate on what constitutes sustainable architecture in South Africa – and that is good.”
The top thesis students from universities and approved universities of technology throughout South Africa go forward to the national competition that will take place over three days.
