Decorex Durban 2012 stand awards

The Bos Iced Tea Stand at Decorex Durban – winner of Most Interactive StandA judging panel consisting of Abi Ray from East Coast Radio, Joy Brasler from Joy Brasler Architects and Garden and Home contributing Editor Sarah Stuart-Reckling came together to identify the best stands at this year's Decorex Durban event.

Best Overall Stand:

Claiming the coveted ‘Best Overall Stand’ was Plascon’s 2012 ‘Endless Possibility’ Colour Forecast. Brought together by Cape Town décor and design firm Laurence Brick Creative Direction, the feature comprised of four exceptional room settings which were based on wonderful interpretations of Plascon’s 2012 colour range. 

Most Interactive Stand:

The BOS Bar was awarded the ‘Most Interactive Stand’ award, having achieved a relaxing and welcoming environment and experience, as well as fantastic product branding and display. 

 

Best Newcomer:

Ruth Duke (Durban), who was one of the four designers who contributed to Plascon’s award winning ‘Endless Possibility’ Colour Forecast feature, was declared the ‘Best Newcomer’, with her interpretation of the ‘Mystery’ palette finding the perfect balance.

Green Award:

The ‘Green’ award was given to KOOP and the Shaw Sisters (Durban) for their interpretation of Plascon’s ‘Origin’ palette as part of the Endless Possibility’ Colour Forecast feature. They achieved a wonderful mix of ‘up-cycled’ products, which included the use of plant boxes as décor items and recycled glass for lighting, as well as having made inspirational colour choices. 

Plascon Award for Best Use of Colour:

The Plascon Award for the ‘Best Use of Colour’ was won by The Shack, whose eye-catching bright fuchsia wall and cleverly painted furniture created a great blend of colour.

Best Small Stand:

Country Kitchens’ contribution to the popular Trend House feature deservedly won them the ‘Best Small Stand’ award, where they displayed a gorgeous and beautifully accessorised kitchen with a mix of white and wood accents. 

Certificates for Stand Excellence:

The Con Amore stand at Decorex Durban won a Stand Excellence AwardAn additional 14 exhibitors were recognised by receiving Stand Excellence Awards, based on criteria that include: first impression and the ‘wow’ factor, the quality of merchandising and branding, customer-focus, lighting and the overall stand layout.

Those who received the award included: Caesarstone, Exotic Kitchens, Fyfe & Boyce, Michele Throssell Interiors & Agencies, Con Amore, SLINXConcepts, Nest, The Shack, Bokone Bophirima Craft and Design Institute (North West Province), Alaturca Natural Stones, Conde Nast House and Garden, Maharani Tiles, Classic Trading and Crestwood.
