For the first time ever, Decorex Durban also included the ‘Operation Man Cave’ feature, and judging by its popularity it is sure to become a more permanent component of the Decorex SA portfolio.
The feature saw four of the region’s most popular personalities (rugby player Ryan Kankowski, East Coast Radio Breakfast Stack DJ Darren Maule, SA Surfski paddler Barry Lewin and former pro surfer Dane Patterson) team up with successful local designers and Wetherly’s to design and build their ultimate Man Cave, all in aid of charity.
Visitors to the event voted for their favourite Man Cave by making donations to the charities nominated by each personality. Ultimately, it was Kankowski’s Man Cave that proved to be the most popular, with R14 359.25 raised for the LIVVillage Foundation by Decorex Durban visitors. In voting for Dane Pattersons Man Cave, visitors raised a total of R10 471 for the Umthombo Street Children organization.
Decorex SA contributed a further R10 000 to the winning charity, as well as R1 000 each to the other three participating charities. Kankowski said that “taking part in Operation Man Cave was a great experience, made even better because it was for a good cause”.
