Concrete paving at Royal Bafokeng sports campus
As the home base for the England squad during the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the Royal Bafokeng sports campus presented an opportunity to showcase South African concrete paving and roofing products to an international market. Located not far from Sun City in North West Province, the complex incorporates a five-star hotel and facilities for a range of sports activities, including soccer, rugby and tennis, plus a tennis clinic.
For the luxury hotel,
Technicrete, a company within the Murray & Roberts Building Products unit, supplied its Bold Double Roman profile roof tiles in brown, with matching round ridges and hip-starters. The ablution blocks of the sports campus are roofed with the same tiles so that in total, more than 113 000 concrete roof tiles were used in the project. The parking areas at the main entrance to the campus are surfaced with Technicrete’s 60mm grey Double Zig-Zag interlocking pavers, which can carry heavy traffic. For the hotel parking area, 50mm Cobble Bond paving was selected in contrasting autumn tints. The entire paving picture is neatly framed with Technicrete concrete kerbing.
