The hardwearing, long-life qualities of Technicrete’s Double Zig-Zag concrete paving blocks are being put to the test day and night at one of the busiest petrol filling stations in Edenvale, Johannesburg.
In any week hundreds of vehicles – from cars to heavy trucks – pass in a steady stream through Minty’s Sasol filling station.
Technicrete Double Zig-Zag pavers were specified in an 80mm thickness for the resurfacing of the station’s forecourt – an area of some 6 500m². The project has been recently completed.
The petrol station is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year, and is one of 10 in the Minty’s stable and the second where the forecourt has been resurfaced with Technicrete’s interlocking paving blocks.
“We first used the Double Zig-Zag paving block for one of our other filling stations, very successfully, about seven years ago,” says Imran Minty, a director of the company.
That project – at a Minty’s outlet in Crown Industria on Johannesburg’s Main Reef Road – won a Concrete Manufacturers Association (CMA) award.
“The paver has performed so well since then that we decided to use it again at Edenvale,” Mr Minty says.
