Capstone is a leading
supplier of natural stone that provides an exceptionally aesthetic and
exclusive finish to upmarket dwellings and commercial buildings. Based
in Merrivale near Pietermaritzburg, Capstone has been mining and
supplying the stone through a network of distribution outlets
throughout the country for the past 10 years.
We supply southern Africa with this
unique building and decorating stone.
Other than its rarity value and striking
beauty, the Siltstone is also three times stronger than brick and is
used extensively as either cladding or as a skin, ie as the exterior
wall of a structure.
The product is retailed in two dimensions
– a 30 - 90 mm thickness that is used as cladding, while the 50 – 130 mm
variant is used in exterior walls.
The Siltstone is easily built with by
stone masons and bricklayers who, with some skill, can create the
intended effect. A normal building sand-cement ratio of 3:1 is used.
As stone is a natural
product, each block is unique in size, with a variable length and
height. However, for construction purposes, the stone has been trimmed
where necessary to control the depth, and is supplied with an average
minimum depth of 50mm and a maximum average depth of 130mm.
Stone can be sorted and
cut to the customers required lengths, heights and depths.
