cncPave
Concrete
pavements
cncPave is a computer simulation
program whose purpose is to facilitate competent decision-making when
designing concrete pavement. cncPave assumes that input values are
uncertain and calculates the consequence - uncertainty about the
output. This sophisticated approach is unique in pavement design
methods.
The approach is based on the evaluation of consequences. The
consequences of a certain pavement design are expressed in terms of
three decision variables, i.e. the risk of premature pavement failure,
excessive deflection and, in the case of continuously reinforced
concrete pavements, excessive crack spacing.
Providing designers with a
user-friendly method based on actual performance of concrete roads in
South Africa, cncPave facilitates the design of cost effective
pavements by taking into account the variability of inputs and
predicting failure mechanisms. It features enhanced modelling and
calibration functions based on data from performance of existing pavements - including an instrumented trial road. In addition, a
costing module and a "what if" feature have been
incorporated.
