Cape Lime (Pty)
Ltd
Lime
Cape Lime is dedicated to the task
of educating the South African market as to the many benefits to
be reaped by using CLC Building and Plaster Lime - quality approved,
tested by time and produced locally from our own natural resources.
Lime makes mortar highly plastic and
workable, enabling the mason to fill the joints completely, resulting
in better quality workmanship. Mortar with a high lime content spreads
easily, increasing productivity.
Lime can accommodate a high percentage
of sand and still be workable and produces a more intimate contact
between the masonry units. As a result, it develops a better and
stronger bond.
The durability of a wall involves not
only durability of the mortar itself, but also the ability of the
mortar to assist in compensating for deficiencies of the masonry unit.
High lime content mortars resist
deflection (wind sway) and lateral pressure better, with less cracking
in the bond between the mortar and masonry units. Thus the strong
intimate bond, characterised by high lime content mortars, tend to
"give a little" under stress.
To ensure that you obtain the best
quality lime, specify CLC by name, as it is the only quality building
lime manufactured to the SABS 523 Type A2"P", which continues to meet the requirements of the
building trade.
Gluex
Whitewash
Cape Lime supplies Gluex Whitewash to South Africans for decades as an
economically viable and attractive paint alternative. Mined and
processed at the Robertson mine, Gluex contains top quality pressure
hydrated lime and is the ideal whitewash for any surface.
Gluex contains no flammable compounds
and, being white, reflects heat. If wooden surfaces are thoroughly
whitewashed they will be less likely to burn in dry conditions.
Gluex is also able to protect surfaces
from the elements, thereby preventing corrosion which, in turn,
reduces maintenance costs.
