Water saving with Cobra
Cobra has grown in Africa since its founding in 1952 and now employs 1500 people at three factory sites. From the outset Cobra has concentrated on technology that is suitable to African conditions, quality that is internationally renowned, and service and product development that has become a byword of the Cobra brand.
Cobra’s technical personnel advise, free of charge, on water supply matters. Piping systems can be designed to ensure optimum use of water and correct pipe sizing when multi-storey or multiple-unit projects are being designed.
Cobra water saving products include toilet and urinal flush valves, flow regulators, water saver showers, self-closing metering valves and demand taps, flow controller aerators, and pressure-reducing valves.
Conventional toilet cisterns flush between 9 litresand 13 litres with every flush. However, toilet flush valves can provide efficient flushes using as little as 6litres/flush, using the velocity principal. Flush valves also allow for rapid successive flushes. Urinals deliver between 1 to 1½ litres per flush.
Water Saver Showers deliver constant flow rates, irrespective of pressure. They are ideal for gyms, schools, industrial ablutions, homes, hotels and holiday accommodation. For example, in a health club visited by 300 people per day, water consumption in showers could reach 8 100 000 litres per year. By using water saver showers delivering a maximum of 9 litres per minute, consumption would be reduced to 3 240 000 litres per year, representing a 60% saving, or enough water to fill 81 average swimming pools, or provide more than 250 people with running water on tap for a year!
Metering valves from Cobra deliver a pre-set volume of water when actuated and a non-hold open design feature ensures that the valve cannot be held in the open position continuously.
Demand taps only deliver water while the push button is depressed and ensure that water is not wasted by taps left running.
