HOME Product Highlights January 2010 Keep the floors clean

Keep the floors clean

Keeping the floors clean should be a prime requisite for any retail outlet.

Designers, owners and occupiers of these premises are soon made aware of the fact that the dirt and grit that is walked into their premises on a daily basis can make considerable inroads into the bottom line unless the proper precautions are taken.

Failure to address this very common problem will undoubtedly result in costly and time consuming maintenance and even repairs being undertaken, and yet the solution to the problem is simple: install an effective dirt trap matting system to trap the dirt before it reaches the floor surface.

In real terms, there is no better way of achieving this than to make use of the knowledge and expertise of a reputable company that can advise on the correct size and type of system to be employed.

For example, if the premises provide an entrance that is directly on the street, it is important to install a dirt trap mat of sufficient size to allow shoppers to take a minimum of three steps before entering the store floor itself.

This, in conjunction with a suitably designed mat, will provide enough scraping and drying of the soles of the footwear to ensure that most of the dirt and grit is removed before entering the premises.

Don’t forget that hardly anyone wipes their feet before entering, even if their feet are wet or muddy because it is raining. A dirt trap mat will go a long way towards alleviating this problem.

Add a normal regular cleaning programme to your floorcare, and you will ensure that the entrance of even a heavily trafficked store or shopping centre will remain looking good for a long time.

There is no doubt that a quality dirt trap matting system from Matco is the answer – an entrance shoe cleaning facility that is efficient, attractive and easy to maintain.

It consists of a blend of components which perfectly match in colour and design, creating a unique harmony that cannot be achieved by any other system. Take, for example, the effective Star Gripper and Trio Scraper access mats which have been used extensively at Alberton City Shopping Centre, Morningside Shopping Centre, Hemmingways Shopping Centre and many more.

The combination of these mats ensures that the dirt is removed prior to entering the building and the remaining moisture is not transferred onto the interior floor surface.

Star Gripper is made from flexible Grey PVC providing an entrance system designed to effectively scrape dirt.

Suitable for external areas, Star Gripper creates a smart and stylish entrance, and is ideal for recessed wells.

It is easy to maintain, particularly well suited for areas of heavy traffic and is resistant to continuous trolley movement.

The Trio Scraper Access Mat provides a double action of scraping and drying through its construction, which is a coarse fibre needle rib felt (100% polypropylene) with alternating brushes and soft stripes in polyamide to provide an effective brushing and drying effect.

It is ideally suited for interior facility entrances as a recessed mat and has the ability to endure any level of foot or lightweight wheeled traffic.

Available in Anthracite, Grey or Brown, Trio Scraper is easily cleaned with a vacuum cleaner, and can be scrubbed with water or soft soap for freshening up.
